Brandon is a piano student of Eugenie Rocherolle, a well-known musician and Wilton Arts Council member. His composition now goes to the Northeast Regional Contest. Good luck, Brandon!

ART IN APRIL.

Focus on Photos.

Zita Mercurio's photo collages are the April focus at Tom-E-Toes restaurant, River Road, Wilton. A photography teacher for 17 years, and an artist with training in ceramics, sculpture, and painting, her love of photography inspired her latest artistic venture: assembling collages of photos to create more vivid patterns and designs. Ziti uses mirror images of a photo, for example, repeating the view right side up and upside down, to create a totally new and striking composition.

"Taming of the Rip"

Colorful mosaics crafted from tiny bits of torn paper is the medium for Barbara Rist's collection of torn-pager collages, exhibited during April at Wilton Library. To create each mosaic, Barbara rips reproductions from art magazines and tears them into miniscule bits of paper. These are then meticulously placed on foamcore, wood, canvas or used in sculptures. It takes up to 18 months to create one of the mosaics. The finished art reflects the inspiration of the original artist, be it the works of Picasso, an Egyptian sarcophagus, or a Nigerian weaving.

Weir Farm Artists.

Visit the Weir Farm National Historic Site, 735 Nod Hill Road, Wilton, through April 28 and you'll find an exciting exhibit, "Artists at Weir Farm: William McCarthy." Visitor center hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Pam Pooley Exhibits.

Don't miss Pam Pooley's exhibit of photos and paintings at Aroma Spa, 18 Center Street, Post Office Square, Wilton, during April and May. Pam is past-president of The Wilton Arts Council.
