CALLING ALL ARTISTS! Exhibit in "Colors and Curves". All Wilton Arts Council member-artists are urged to take part in the Council's 4th Annual Art Exhibition, "Colors and Curves", to be held at the new Wilton High School Zellner Gallery, March 22 - April 30, 2002. A "by invitation only" reception is planned for Friday, April 26th from 5 to 8 PM, which gives exhibitors a great opportunity to talk to buyers and attendees. Prizes, ribbons and certificates will be awarded. Enter up to 4 contemporary or traditional paintings, landscapes, impressionism or realism (minimum size, including frame, is 18" by 24", wired and ready to hang). If you are a local artist, and a Wilton Arts Council member in good standing, we would welcome a showing of your work at Tom-E-Toes during 2002. Exhibits feature a new artist each month. "I paint only from life, and capture the urgency of the moment," says Wilton artist-journalist Rama Ramaswami, whose latest work will be exhibited during March at Tom-E-Toes restaurant on River Road in Wilton. Rama's paintings of flowers, water, boats and people convey "heightened realism," a magnified awareness of light, color, and the scene's immediate visual impact. Much of the work features Norwalk and Rowayton settings. The opening reception is Tuesday, March 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. And don't miss Jon Wason's photography exhibition at Tom-E-Toes during February! Errante Concert May 18 at 8:00PM. Hold the date! Lois and Richard Errante will again perform a special concert for the Wilton Arts Council, featuring violin, cello and piano. The highpoint of the concert at St. Matthews Church, Wilton, will be the premiere performance of a composition by Wilton's own Eugenie Rocherolle, which she wrote in commemoration of Wilton's Bicentennial Celebration. And Keep in Mind? February. Second Bicentennial Exhibit at the Wilton Library. "Wilton Now" includes works by all Wilton artists who have painted scenes of Wilton. The exhibit remains for the month. We need face painters, balloon clowns, wall painters, chalk drawers and arts & crafters. Absolutely no artistic talent is necessary; just the joy of helping kids have fun! BOOST THE ARTS. Donors to the WAC 2002 High-School Arts Scholarship Fund can contribute to scholarships for talented students in the following categories: art, photography, ceramics, music (orchestra, band, or voice). Thanks to Dol Dol Christison, WAC's only Honorary Life Member, gave to several members and guests on the 12th dancing lessons in the Salsa and Swing, two very different dances. We all had a wonderful time and learned our left foot from our right. Thanks Dol, we are truly blessed to have you as our first Honorary Life Member. Nominating Committee is being formed It is that time again to begin thinking of officers and other leaders for the next fiscal year. Many positions need to be filled. Loft-hopping We are looking for artists, photographers, pottery makers or crafters to give hour long demonstrations in their studios for 5 to 8 members on a night of your choice.
