Halloween Picture Painting,
October 11, 2003
Halloween Window Painting for the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders took place as scheduled on October 11th of Columbus Day weekend. The children were very enthusiastic and ready to go at 9:00 AM. We met at the gazebo and window assignments were given out. Thirty children participated and all did a wonderful job on their paintings. You may want to take a lovely walk around town to see these paintings before the weather and rain ruin some of them.

The winners and windows they painted are as follows.
In the 4th grade level:
  • first place went to Elizabeth Villarreal and Lindsay Taylor at Stewart Flowers,
  • second place to Haley Shaughnessy and Rands Keasler at the Toy Chest and
  • third to Devon Fray at the Wilton Library.
In the 5th grade level:
  • first place went to Jessica Mathis at the William Raveis Real Estate office,
  • second place to Maegan Sherman at the Wilton Library and
  • third place to Jessica Lempit at Changez Hair Salon.
In the 6th grade level:
  • Kristina Durels took first place at the Village Luncheonette,
  • Connor Fray second place at the Wilton Library and
  • Taylor and Kelly Glazebrook at the Village Market received the third place award.
The 7th and 8th graders were combined and the winners were:
  • Rachel Rothenberg and Elena Villarreal at Stewart Flowers,
  • second place to Ali Sullivan and Jillian Sinnot at the Wilton Library and
  • third to Kelsey Durels at the Village Luncheonette.
Honorable Mentions were given to others at the Halloween Window Painting.

Several other stores were involved including: Wilton Photo, Physical Integrity, Day Spa, Fino Leather, The Arena Barbershop, Consignment Shop, Go Get Dressed, Wilton Cleaners, Aroma Spa, Wallflowers, and Joon’s Cleaners

Judging this year included members of the Wilton Arts Council Sam Brody, Florence Price, Shirley M. Lewis, Anne Yanrrington, Gayle Gleckler and members of the Key Club assisting were Maggie Ryan, Alicia Sullivan and Tommy O’Connell. We very much appreciate your splendid service for this yearly event.

This is an annual event sponsored by the Wilton Arts Council and is usually scheduled for the three day Columbus Day Weekend so that in case it rains the first day, we have the painting on Sunday and if it is still raining, as it did in 2002, painting is done on Monday. If you have your calendars for 2004, please schedule it in for the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend.
